The 8th Fire is an educational organization that was founded to fulfill a promise that was made over 25 years ago to bring forward the Medicine Teachings of what has come to be known as the Bernard Family of the Algonquins of Pikwākanagān (Golden Lake) First Nation to the world.
The 8th Fire educates people, all people, who wish to learn Algonquin Healing (or Shamanism as it is popularly known), taking a student who knows little to nothing about it, and educates them to a level of high proficiency in it’s Two-Year Program. Study is also available beyond the Two-Year Program in Mastery Teachings or classes.
Anyone may apply to the Program. One need not be Algonquin, Native, Indian, or Aboriginal - the Program is equally open and accessible to anyone, consistent with the philosophy and teachings of the Algonquins and the Bernard Family, and the promise made and kept of bringing these teachings forward to the world.
Students are educated in the Lineage of the Bernard Family and it’s traditional teachings, and train in the Djasakid (jee-sah-ki) (or tent-shaker) tradition. These teachings include energy medicine (The Great Fire), extractions, journeying, retrieval of power, soul, destiny, prayer, ceremony, ritual, and much more.
The 8th Fire keeps class sizes small to ensure a good student to educator ratio, and to have people working with partners and groups throughout the Training Program. The main focus of the Program is on the students own personal healing, and the student learns how to engage and do this in a very deep, personal, and relevant way.
It is the belief of our Clan that you cannot help heal anyone until you have first healed yourself, which is why all work begins with the student’s own personal healing.
